  • I have taken Gabapentin for over 6 years (also take Cymbalta). Have many of the named side effects, the most pronounced being sleepiness, tremors, poor balance, ‘brain fog’, dry mouth and incontinence. I would love to stop taking both drugs – but what would be the alternative for peripheral neuropathy pain? Also, cessation of these drugs can have severe withdrawal effects and withdrawal is therefore a long & difficult process. It’s a nightmare.

    • It’s worth the withdrawal journey. I have fibromyalgia and I was on it for a year. I went from being able to function in a high powered job, very clever, high multi-tasking etc to barely able to function through the day, lack of concentration and speaking gobbledegook. Also, I didn’t find it completely managed my pain cos I never wanted to increase my dose after the first increase, once was enough. Do I still suffer with pain? Yes. Is codeine enough? No. Do I regret coming off lyrica? NO! I’m myself again. I hear your fear about coming off but it’s worth the journey.

  • I have taken Gabapentin for a while did nothing for me increased dosage still no effects. I them went to Lyrica it has responded better to me by like 40%.
